A list of Must Watch , To Be Watched Movies

I’m making a list of legendary or cult movies that I haven’t yet watched.

Here it goes :

These are in no particular order . Also I summed these up in a matter of like, 15 minutes. So I’m pretty sure I must have left quite a bit.

Help me remember and I’ll attribute your name if it gets added in the list … What you will also remember icon smile A list of Must Watch , To Be Watched Movies

Also, I’d appreciate reviews about the movies in the list , but NO SPOILERS please. Don’t reveal the endings or anything.

I’m going to start downloading these movies from today. The trick is to not let the list go above 20.

2011 New Year’s Resolutions

The year 2010, much like it’s predecessors, passed by real fast.

Just like every year I am one of the only person I know who’s all enthusiastic about making New Year Resolutions. Everyone else is just too damn sure that there’s no real point in making them since no one keeps/follows them anyways.

Pfft !!! Cynics them all !!!

Undeterred by the overall pessimistic attitude, our hero has gone ahead and planned his life in bullet-form.

Here’s what I have decided to accomplish and declare publicly :
1. Loose 8 kgs.
2. Write poems/ghazhals/shers
3. Write 365 blogs on raseel.in
4. Start atleast one company
5. Learn Gujrati fluently
6. 6 Vacations at 6 different locations
7. Commit to one open source project and start one new open source project
8. Invest in a property

I think all of the above are well within bounds.

Do you dare to declare atleast one of your Resolutions ?

Pune Wine Tasting Festival : December 2010

It’s that time of the year again !! I wait for this event for the whole year. It happens in Bandra and Delhi and few other places. But I wait for the Pune event, …. mostly, because I can actually go there and have been going there for the past 3 years in a row.

The Pune Wine Tasting Festival is back for the 4th time !!!

Pune Wine Tasting Festival Pune Wine Tasting Festival : December 2010

This weekend,  December 11th and 12th 2010, at the usual Rohi Villa Palace, Lane No.7, Koregaon Park, Pune will once again witness the wanna-be sommeliers, the lukha bevdas and the plain first-timers coming together to taste India’s finest.

So hurry up and book your tickets. The price for the the pass is Rs.400/- per day. This includes a “Wine Tasting Kit” which involves a Wine glass, Advertising pamplets and a booklet with information on tasting wine, the Wineries and companies that are offering their wines, the schedule of events, etc.

The last couple of times I was not able to catch the cooking shows and the live music. Not to mention, I had just Adwait (a colleague from 2Wire) for company.

Hopefully this time, I’ll have more company to go the event with.

The Simpsons theme song : A Cappella

A Cappella, I recently discovered, is a form of music in which the band members perform songs WITHOUT musical instruments !!!

And before you guys run-off to read more about this fascinating art form on Wikipedia, just check out this video of an A cappella band called “Canvas” performing the theme song of the longest running sitcom on television, “The Simpsons”.

For those of you who are not aware of The Simpsons, check out their original theme song first and then compare it with the A cappella performance :

A return from Hiatus

That’s right. The Goth is back !!!

And he’s meaner and he’s leaner (not really) and he’s gonna be a better blogger than he ever was.

Without ranting what happened in every second of my life since the last post, I’m instead, going to rant about what’s GOING to happen in every second of my life.

In my top priorities is , of course, a more punctual and scheduled Blogging routine , more updates from the “Bareek Raseel Project”, tech-blog updates , hotel reviews, iPhone App reviews (oh yeah baby !!!) , cooking experiments with the Mrs. and of course, my beloved OSD.

Here’s a sneak-peek and what a roller-coster ride it’s going to be.

Ramayana … The way it should have been

I’m a reknowned Athiest. But today, I’m going to write about God… Lord Rama !!!!

But Ram here is not of , 2000 B.C… or whatever the hell the year was .

I’m talking about Ramayana 3392 A.D. , infact, this is RAMAYANA 3392 A.D. RELOADED !!!

Humor me , if you will :

Forget the Ram from the Ramayana series all of us used to watch as kids every Sunday morning 10:00am. Forget the funny looking Hanumana who looked like he was just coming from a brutal Dental appointment.

Forget Ravana who looked like a pot-bellied goonda who’s only intention in life seemed to be with Sita.

If you have managed to rid these images from your mind, then Lo and Behold, I give you

Ramayana 3392 A.D. Reloaded   …… In the distant future.

The Four Brothers : Rama , Lakshmana, Bharata, Shatruganha… Bring it On !!!

four bros Ramayana ... The way it should have been

Asura : The Perfect Beast

asura Ramayana ... The way it should have been

Vanara : The Agile Warriors

vanara Ramayana ... The way it should have been

Hanumana : Oozing Raw Power

hanumana Ramayana ... The way it should have been

Ravana : His Awesomeness !!!

ravana Ramayana ... The way it should have been

The best part about this is, this whole venture, this graphic, futuristic novel based on Ramayana, is a Shekhar Kapur production, who has used Indian artists (No Manga)

Virgin Comics has about 10 Editions of this comic out already.

If Ramayana with it’s limited characters and only one big war looks so awesome, I am drooling over the thought of a graphic novel on Mahabharata.

The Cage

Here’s a small poem my Bro wrote :

The walls they paint with yellow-baige,
and i think that they are in a cage.
For there can be stardust of Orange-green or mountains of Azure,
They should let go of the greys,
And sacrifice the ‘sure’…

Painted objects will bring them rage,
and i think that they are in a cage.
For the moon can always be crimson-blue in the little corner of the wall,
And there can be a landscape of rainbow dots.
or children playing under a fall…..

If these things sound unusual to you,
for a suave sitting room,
then i bet my pants, you’ll stay with creams,
and mild shades of gloom.
For although you’ll enjoy the company of many,
you are actually on a stage…..
And unfortunately my friend, i regret to inform,
You too are in a cage!

Interpretations anyone ?
